For the first time in Bacolod, CENECO has connected a solar system through net metering to its power grid. It is also the first-ever private solar net-metering project in Negros Occidental.
The Solar System was installed on the roof of a residential home in Capitolville, Bacolod City. This system utilizes the power of the sun to produce electricity, using photovoltaic cells, during daylight hours. Excess energy will be fed, and sold to Ceneco during the day via net metering. At night, the grid-tied solar system will use the electricity from the Ceneco grid, and seamlessly switches between the two power sources, without bothering the user. This hybrid system eliminates the need for batteries, for storage, which makes these systems much more cost effective.
The solar power system GreenEnergy installed is a 5-kilowatt system capable of powering two (2) or more refrigerators, fans, aircons, washing machine, computer, and other appliances running during the day.
